"The Jungle Runner" - New print for IAM8BIT show tonight!

Hello friends, I'm pleased to debut a new art print for the iam8but Entertainment System art show.Here's the tagline: "Over 80 Artists from Around the Earth Fulfilling their Retro Gaming Fantasies!!!" Well, I sure did.

Inspired by the original PITFALL game for the Atari 2600, "The Jungle Runner" is 27x10 giclee, gallery edition of 36. About the print: From the beginning, Pitfall was there.. It was the first game that consumed me on the 2600, and the first that gave rewards for achievements (Explorer's Patch!). Yes, the graphics were simple, the action extremely limited, but this did not matter; it was simply an excuse to invent imaginary virtual surroundings. The 8-bit graphics seem ancient now, but rudimentary display never seemed to limit my enjoyment of the game. In place of blocky pixels, I saw green dense jungle, and fierce organic-looking beasts. If you could magically be in my head while I played the role of Pitfall Harry, this image is a pretty close approximation of what you'd see!

Tried to include a few fun game items- gold bar, white scorpions, rattler and logs, and of course the crocs... there's also a nod to the game's designer/programmer, and an abandoned 2600 console left in the trees...Originally I had a screenprint planned (of another image entirely) but we ran out of time. In the end that was a good thing- imo this particular piece was best served by abandoning strict separated colors and just trying to create vibrant surroundings. Opening night: Friday, June 7

Hey all- my apologies if you're still waiting on a tube- took me longer than planned to get all that hand-finishing etc. completed! whew.

FYI the last batches of pending orders shipped out this week (a few overseas stragglers going out Monday).
UPDATE 6/4: Doh! Discovered about a half dozen tubes that didn't get shipped last week- getting them out now so if you're still one of those waiting- tube coming!-JC

In between iam8bit show stuff and furious SDCC prep, I've been even crazier than normal round here!

Also, many of you have asked about the "Three Voices" onsale-  announcement this coming week (wanted to focus on getting orders out before worrying about any new stuff!)

Happy to report Beyond the Pass printing is complete! Thanks everyone for waiting patiently for these to come in-- they'll start shipping end of this week.

G1988 Show - AP prints onsale tomorrow 5/13

Hello friends-

Just a reminder I'm planning to put up my AP copies from my March G1988 Show for sale tomorrow, May 13th at 3PM Eastern. Prints available will include "The Invasion (Jaws)" and variant, "Even in the Face of Our Deaths (Superman)", "Moonwatchers/30 Ghosts", "The Equator" "Dark Side of the Power" and more- don't be late, I'll only have a couple copies of certain prints.

News and shipping updates - UPDATED 5/9

Hello friends- hope you all had a great weekend. Had yet another weird crazy (but fun) week here at HQ, and it looks like it's only gonna get crazier as the summer approaches. What happened last week? Took on a few new poster jobs to debut later this summer, began sketching 2 new prints for a show in June, started layout on a unique project that has me revisting an older illustration in a new format, continued work on May's Guild art print, and completed a bit of hand-finishing on the (sold out to sub holders) 'North of the Wall' APs before S/N for shipping this week. 

UPDATE MAY 9: That G1988 AP sale I promised? Unfortunately because I'm still swamped getting pending orders out/hitting deadlines, I have to move the Gallery1988 AP sale one last time....

NEW PLAN- Gonna have the Gallery1988 AP onsale this MONDAY, MAY 13th. I need the weekend to be able to post new pics and some background info about the prints.
So sorry for the change, but I'm just too overwhelmed this week to do a proper onsale. 

MAY'S SUB PRINT - this month I'll reveal the Guild subscription print on Friday, May 17th (instead of the 15th). Not only will this help me catch up on shipping, but leaving a little gap between onsales is a good thing for my brain! 

"BEYOND THE PASS" update- Printing hit slight snag last week but is now back on track, should now have these in hand to start shipping next week; a color issue arose during production so for quality's sake we went back and started over to get 'em looking just right,should look even better now-- any questions about your individual order please shoot me a mail.

A new one- "Beyond The Pass"

Hello my friends- Thanks for waiting for me today. Lots going on, but let's just get to the art. So happy to finally debut this month's art print (and first Guild release); I needed a journey back into the mountains...been far too long...

Titled "Beyond the Pass", this one is a 36"x12" 6-color screenprint. I do hope to live there one day.

The print will go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday, April 16th) at 3PM EST. Just come back to the blog here and I'll make a new post with BUY buttons and instructions.
