Holiday Onsale 2011 details...
Hello friends,
Just wanted to drop a quick note about the onsale happening later today (Dec. 18) around 8PM EST.
I'll have some of the prints I did this year for Gallery 1988: the Hudsucker-themed Tidbits of Time (from Crazy4Cult) and A Thousand Years Wide (from Devil Town)- plus a few miscellaneous goodies I've dug out of the flatfile for the occasion. (sorry no Mondo stuff yet, those will have to wait until the new year)
Check back here at the onsale time- I'll make a new post with buy buttons etc. when the sale goes live. Thanks again everyone for all your support, hope to see some of you tonight!

New print - "Jurassic Park"
Well I can finally spill the info on the next print - and it's the biggest one yet (literally)! I'm honored to be a part of the Jurassic Park series, brought to you by the fine folks at Mondo.
Mr. Horkey's take on the triumphant T-Rex in the first poster was so scary good that I wanted to go in a completely different direction to help showcase some other aspects of the movie that I (personally) found more compelling.
As exciting as some of the chase scenes are, I was always more impressed with the gentler, more awe-inspiring visual moments in the film. The 'scary monster on our heels' stuff was done before in countless movies, but the scenes that stuck with me were the fleeting moments between chases... characters could briefly reflect on their amazing surroundings and interact with these giants with sentiments other than 'RUN!' (That said, just had to include the Trex in there because let's face it- he's the hero of the flick).
Stay tuned to Mondo's site on Thursday, as the sale will happen at a random time (watch their twitter). There will also be a variant available without the titles/credits which will go up at the same time (don't ask which I like better, apples and oranges etc). If I do have any to sell later I'll let folks know through the mailing list etc.
As always, thanks for listening-

Shipping etc.
Hi friends,
Just wanted to let the 'Sinful, Windborne' customers know that orders have started to trickle out. Wanted to thank you all for your extra patience on this one-- ran into some unexpected delays last week and wasn't able to ship as many as planned.
Still getting back on track but expect to have all the orders shipped out by the end of this week. If you still have a question about your individual order, please feel free to shoot me an email.
Can't thank you all enough for the support.. can't wait to share what's next!

Comatose, but still alive...
Hello friends,
Lots of news to share soon, wanted to let you all know the Sinful, Windborne onsale will be later this week, I'll nail down a time asap. Right now I'm in the middle of a marathon painting session, adding details to the skies one by one... time consuming as hell but worth it imo.
Unlike the Walden print--where I left areas of the sky undefined so details could be painted in later--here I'm adding a bit of detail to the existing cloud layer. The basic layout won't change, but small patterns and details will vary from print to print.. hooray for uniqueness.
Why spend the extra time on each print? Quite simply- it just looks nicer, adding depth and some subtle shading to the clouds without having to dedicate a ton of colors to just that element... the only drawback is my hand quits after about 50, so shifts are necessary.
Should be done tomorrow, you'll be the first to know...

New Print - "We Keep Watch" for Novos
Hello friends, just a quick update with some 'late notice' onsale news--
As some of you are aware, I recently completed a promotional print for the scifi short called 'Novos'.. I'm just the artist on this one, all the presales will be handled by the Novos store site. The prints will go up at 11am PST (2PM Eastern) on Friday, July 29th.
“We Keep Watch” is a 28″ x 12″, 10-color (with 2 fades) screenprint with an edition of 120. There are also Night and Mist variants with editions of 40.
This series is acting as a way to raise funds for Jonathan Brebner's sci-fi short 'Novos'. Go here to learn more about the project.

Crazy4Cult 5 print - 'Tidbits Of Time'
Hello friends, here are some detail images of my piece for the Crazy4Cult 5 show at Gallery 1988. It's a 10-color screen print (with 2 fades), approx. 25.5"x15.5", edition of 95 (no variants were printed for this one).
This 'tidbit of time' shows the darkest moment for Norville Barnes, when the forces of greed and public shame begin to close in around him. All seems lost, until a noise from within the room breaks his concentration; suddenly he seems to forget the despair and pulls back from the brink, moving towards redemption and his second chance...
I consider The Hudsucker Proxy a severely underrated film, full of timeless themes such as good vs. evil, greed vs. passion and the eternal mortal struggle to make every moment count, especially when time itself seems pitted against you. ("Tidbits of Time" = the fictional newsreel title in the film).
In addition to being a great script, I've often thought it would make a fine stage production since many of the performances are deliberately exaggerated and even some of the sets look as if they were designed to resemble stage facades (seem to remember hearing about a Hudsucker college production?). There are a few additional characters joining Norville on this 'stage', with even Waring Hudsucker making an appearance.. sort of...
