I chose to illustrate the Smith House (aka MyHaven) in Bloomfield Hills MI not only for it's quiet beauty but also because of what it represents in Wright's development- part of his Usonian series, where modest homes that utilize good design are meant to improve everyday life for the middle class. MyHaven was commissioned by schoolteachers who literally worked extra jobs to afford the construction... its far cry from the more grandiose structures most people envision when they think of FLW designs.
Taliesin West is located in 12345 N Taliesin Drive, Scottsdale, AZ and the show will be on view this Saturday June 15th and Sunday June 16th from 10am to 5pm.
